G’day and welcome to Footytalk.com.au.
The World’s First Australian Rules Football Podcast.
Steve Bartram – R.I.P
Thanks to the listeners and readers for the emails asking whether we will be back again for the 2010 season. Footytalk.com.au exists for you, and we hope that you continue to get something out of our rantings and opinions.
Since beginning in 2005, we have grown to become the Voice of The People – a fan’s perspective on the real events both within and behind the game of Australian Rules Footy.
Rather than the version of the game that the mainstream medja purports, The Explosion and his team of armchair experts bring you an informative and unsanitised look at the game.
NOTE TO JEFF GEISCHEN: -
There is not such thing as a ‘natural arc’ in the Laws of Australian Football. It is a wank!
Rule 16.2 states: –
“A Player who has been awarded a Mark or Free Kick shall dispose of the
football from directly behind the mark. If a Player disposes or attempts
to dispose of the football other than in a direct line over the mark, the
field Umpire shall call “Play On” and the football shall immediately be
in play. This Law does not apply if a Player is disposing of the football
from beyond the Goal Line, Behind Line or Boundary Line, in which
case Laws 16.4 or 16.5 shall apply”
Ergo, everytime Franklin has a ping for goal from a mark or free kick should be called play on the MOMENT he steps off his line – just like everyone else in the field of play.
UPDATE: – Check out Round 3 of the Video Explosive Rants. Much more to come in the following weeks.
UPDATE: – The Reality Ladder is finally back up and running. CLICK HERE to check it out and pass comment.
As mentioned in our first podcast for 2010, we are very interested in hearing from YOU and trying to incorporate any questions, comments or ideas you may have about footy into our podcasts. If you have something you would like to offer, simply record it on your mobile phone, mp3 player or even using the ‘Audacity’ download online to ask make your comments and email them to us HERE.
We are going to try and keep track of the medja stuff-ups this year during our podcasts and online. Whilst we have done a lot of this in the podcasts over the past 5 years, I am keeping my eye out for any small or even huge faux pas that our learned colleagues in the mainstream medja make in relation to the footy.
After all, these people get paid and absolute packet to report on things properly and need to be held accountable for their lack of research, lack of knowledge or general lack of care in their reporting.
IF you see or hear of anything that may fit into this category, email us here to let us know via email and we will post your comments and stories here.
With a cool, crisp new look, Footytalk.com.au continues to bring you an inside look at each week’s games, the Medja, our Boy of the Year, Footy Tipping and Supercoach Leagues, and the Reality Ladder makes a come back after 3 year lay off. Thanks also to our guest presenters from 2009 – especially to The Veteran and we have obviously promoted the Work Experience Boy from the bench to become a full presenter. We should upgrade his status from W.E.B to Jimmy Olsen.
I would like to pass on a special thanks to everyone who joined in the fun and frivolity during my travels as I would not have been able to continue the quality correspondence on the way the game is being run without you. To the following people: - The Watcher and Dr. Loch (our oldest AND youngest presenters on the one show, The Dogman of Alcatraz (who let the Dog out), Bluey (at least one intelligent Red Head around) , Red Hot (our honourred first female presenter), Le Ferrey (nuggety Sydney-based back pocket ferret), CFC Dan (obviously a proud Carlton Football Club supporter now), and Sticky Wicket (aka Odgi) as well as our regulars in Z, Polly, Work Experience Boy, Moose, and Auction.
Without you all, we would not have been able to bring Footytalk to the masses during my absence from Melbourne and I have to pass on a sincere and very heartfelt thank you to you all. I look forward to catching up with you all in person again during my interstate ventures during 2010.
- The Explosion
