8 AFL Footballing Icons Set For Boxing Match
Gather Round will see a number of footballers enter the boxing rings.
Eight former AFL players are trading studded boots for boxing glove. The octet has agreed to compete in a boxing match before the Gather Round card, which will be held in Adelaide.
Tom Morris of Nine News reported that names such as Nathan Brown, Dane Swan and the always controversial Kane Cornes will be battling it out at the Adelaide 36ers Arena on April 3, the day before Gather Round 2 at the Adelaide Oval.
Dane Swan will face off against Dale Thomas. Retired forwards Anthony Rocca, and Corey McKernan also have agreed to square off.
The four-fight card is filled with fights between ex-coaches and advisors.

Anthony Rocca v Corey McKernan
Mitch Robinson v Kayne Pettifer
Pettifer is the only one of this group who has real ring experience. The former Tiger holds a 3-0 track record with a knockout victory.
The broadcast platform has yet to be determined, but each fight will consist of four rounds with two minutes between each round.
Each bout, presented by SLB Fight Night & Pelligra Group will be four rounds of two minutes each, with bragging right on the line.
The evening is led by director and promoter Sam LaBruna, who is sure to attract both casual and seasoned boxing fans. Seating is available in the VIP Lounge, corporate dining room or private dining rooms.
